As Mark Carney and His New Cabinet Takes Office, Canadians Await His Next Steps Amid Tariff Tensions

The long-awaited arrival of this time is a major accomplishment for  Mark Carney, a Canadian economist. Carney attended Harvard University for economics and Oxford University for graduate study; he was born in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, on March 16, 1965. Throughout his career, he has held prominent positions at Goldman Sachs and served as Governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England.

He will now steer Canada through some difficult times. As Justin Trudeau  steps down as prime minister, he will face a number of challenges in his new role. One of these is dealing with our American friends and allies in the wake of Trump’s tariff policies, which include a 25% charge on Canadian steel and aluminum imports. Other Canadian goods are subject to tariffs as well, with energy imports in particular being subject to a 10% levy.
