Canada Post and the union representing its more than 55,000 postal employees are said to be returning to the negotiations table this weekend. According to the negotiations update posted February 24, 2025, the two parties will be in two-day negotiations assisted by a mediator.

Negotiations are scheduled for March.

On Saturday, March 1, and Sunday, March 2, Canada Post and CUPW will hold two days of negotiations.

The update indicates that the talks will be held in parallel with the work of the IIC and follow discussions with William Kaplan, who is leading the commission and will mediate the new round of negotiations.

“Canada Post is committed to reaching negotiated agreements with CUPW that will help the company better serve the changing needs of Canadians while providing good jobs to those who provide that service.”

According to the report, the investigation will also give suggestions on how the union may negotiate a fresh agreement. That said, Canada Post continues to advocate weekend delivery, but it runs counter to union policy regarding staffing the expansion.
